Termoflex XF 6 mm is a thin, flexible and self-adhesive closed cell foam insulation designed for campervans, van conversions, motorhomes, boats and other vehicle interiors. Its compact 6 mm thickness makes it particularly useful wherever installation space is limited, while still providing an effective thermal break between the vehicle body and the interior.
The closed cell elastomeric foam combines thermal insulation, condensation control and acoustic benefits in a lightweight material that can be installed directly onto clean vehicle body panels. The factory-applied adhesive backing simplifies installation and eliminates the need for separate contact adhesive in most applications.
Why use 6 mm closed cell foam in a campervan?
A van body contains many areas where a thick insulation layer simply will not fit. Doors, structural ribs, pillars, wheel arches and narrow cavities often require a thinner insulation material that can follow the shape of the metal without interfering with interior panels or fittings.
Termoflex XF 6 mm is designed for exactly these areas. It creates a continuous insulating layer over cold metal surfaces while using only a small amount of installation depth.

Helps reduce condensation on vehicle body panels
Condensation can occur inside a campervan when warm, humid interior air reaches a cold metal surface. By covering the metal with a continuous closed cell insulation layer, Termoflex XF helps reduce direct contact between warm interior air and cold vehicle bodywork.
The material has a closed cell structure with very low water absorption and high resistance to water vapour, making it well suited to environments where temperature and humidity can change significantly.
Insulation should always be combined with adequate ventilation, particularly in campervans used for sleeping, cooking or year-round travel.
Ideal for tight spaces, doors and structural ribs
The 6 mm thickness is especially useful in areas where thicker campervan insulation is difficult to install. Typical applications include:

Termoflex XF 6 mm has a strong factory-applied adhesive backing. The foam can be installed directly onto a clean, dry and grease-free metal surface.
Its flexible structure follows curved and irregular vehicle panels, making it considerably easier to work with than rigid insulation around complex body shapes.
For best results, measure and cut each section before removing the release liner. Peel the liner away gradually while pressing the insulation firmly against the surface. Adjacent pieces should be fitted closely together to create as continuous an insulation layer as possible.
Thermal insulation for van conversions
Vehicle bodywork transfers heat quickly. During cold weather, heat inside the van is lost through the metal structure, while during hot weather solar-heated body panels can transfer heat into the interior.
Termoflex XF helps reduce this heat transfer. Its thermal conductivity is only 0.036 W/(m·K) at 0 °C, giving useful thermal performance even where only a thin insulation layer can be installed.
For larger wall and ceiling areas where more installation depth is available, Termoflex XF 13 mm or 19 mm can be used to achieve greater thermal resistance.
Can Termoflex XF 6 mm help with sound insulation?
Yes. The flexible elastomeric foam also helps reduce the transmission of some mid- and higher-frequency noise through vehicle structures.
For more effective campervan soundproofing, Termoflex XF can be combined with a butyl sound deadening mat. The butyl layer reduces resonance and vibration in large metal panels, while Termoflex XF adds thermal insulation, acoustic separation and condensation control.

Is 6 mm insulation enough for a campervan?
